Abstract:Senile hyperthyroidism is a common endocrinological disease. In recent years, the prevalence of senile hyperthyroidism is in an increasing trend. But, due to its atypical clinical manifestations, the disease is often misdiagnosed or missed for the elderly patients. Because of many concomitant diseases, it should be mainly treated by low-dose anti-thyroid agents or radiotherapy. Surgical treatment is not recommended for them. In addition, symptomatic and supporting therapies can be also used, and thyroid function also needs to be closely monitored during therapy.
