We report a successful rescue of an 83-year-old male patient who took a supralethal dose of paraquat (50ml, 20% aqueous solution). According to literature and our own clinical experience, if some one taking 10ml paraquat, the mortality would be more than 90%. Our experience was early gastric lavaging, large doses of steroid and ambroxol, early and long-time blood purification. In addition, the patient’s family members were longevous, so they might be tolerant to paraquat.
