    Abstract:

Because of the reality that elderly care is mainly at home in our country, family nutritional management has to be carried out for the elderly suffering from swallowing disorder caused by aging or disease (e.g.stroke). In this article, we introduced the Japanese family nutritional management mode for dysphagia elderly. An interconnected, multi-level home care service network has been established based on region, hospital, community and pension institutions. This mode effectively guarantees the quality of home healthcare services for the patients, and forms a new healthcare concept, “prevention first”, at the same time. It not only decreases the occurrence of dysphagia in the elderly with home care, but also reduces medical expenses and extends life expectancy.
