We firstly introduced some characteristics of aging population in China. We must focus on the elderly disability problem as well as further strengthening the prevention and control of geriatric diseases. We introduced comprehensively the definition, epidemiology, economic burden, risk factors, assessment methods, diagnostic criteria and intervention measures of disability in the elderly.
