Geriatrics in China is still in its infancy, and lack of a geriatrics education system, in which a wide gap exists when compared with developed countries. In this article, we summarized our experiences in continuing education, resident education, staff training, teaching material compiling, community education and patient education during the last two years in Department of Geriatrics, Peking Union Medical College Hospital. Certain achievements had been made in the popularizing of concept of geriatrics, and the improvement of continuing education approaches. Furthermore, we brought forward to an initial idea on multi-level education for geriatric medicine. We appealed to standardize geriatrics education and establish a qualifying examination and qualification admittance system to improve career advancement.
