    Abstract:

Ferrotosis is a mode of cell death newly identified in this century, characterized mainly by iron accumulation and lipid peroxidation. Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a type of inflammatory bowel disease associated with a variety of causes and an ever increasing incidence, seriously affecting people′s health. Therefore, active exploration of its pathogenesis is of great significance for its screening, diagnosis and treatment. In recent years, the relationship between ferroptosis and UC has attracted widespread attention and become a new research hotspot. This article reviews the role of the main mediators of ferroptosis in the pathogenesis of UC in combination with the latest research findings to provide new insight for the treatment of UC with ferroptosis as a target.
