Abstract:
      Accurate energy consumption is a helpful indicator for guiding individualized nutrition support, preventing malnutrition or overnutrition, and achieving the best benefits of nutritional therapy. There are many factors influencing the resting energy expenditure, such as body composition, gender, age, disease and environmental conditions. In this paper, we reviewed the clinical application of resting energy expenditure measurement for the elderly at the different stages of chronic diseases.
