Abstract:Retroperitoneal fibrosis (RPF), is a rare fibro-inflammatory disease that develops around the abdominal aorta and the iliac arteries, and extends into the adjacent retroperitoneum, where it causes ureteral obstruction and renal failure frequently. Most RPF occurs in the middle aged, and the male/female ratio is 3∶[KG-*2]1~2∶[KG-*2]1. Diagnosis depends on the abdomen ultrasound, CT and MRI, while, retroperitoneal mass biopsy can identify clear pathological types. In clinical practice, the aims of treatment are to relieve urinary obstruction and promote disease reversal. Glucocorticoids are recommended for first-line treatment. In this paper, we reported a case of retroperitoneal fibrosis in a 83-year-old male.
