    Abstract:

We reported a successful rescue of severe infection with multiple organ dysfunction in a 85-year-old male patient in this article. According to literatures and our own clinical experience, the most common cause leading to multiple organ dysfunction is lung infection. Elderly patients suffering from lung infection-induced multiple organ failure commonly have poor prognosis. What’s more, with the increase in patient’s age, the number of failured organ and mortality were elevated. It was quite difficult to rescue this case. For such patients, diagnosis of lung infection, early and dynamic assessment, and rational comprehensive therapy are key points to achieve successful rescue.
